After having a break over the Easter period, and this week was the last week of the assignment for CS26020 – Robotics and Embedded Systems, so that was more of a focus.

CS22120 – Software Engineering Week 8
After Rowan reached out to me via Discord asking if I had information on XML we worked on a small document comparing XML and JSON, which went over pros and cons of each in tables, as well as a comparison of the size of programs that achieve similar functions.

[:en]I attended the review meetings held for the design specification document prior to it’s submission, where the majority of the group (if not all of us) went over the document as Peter walked us through it. I’ve also been requested to do research on XML (Extensible Markup Language).

[:en]I’m no longer involved with the architecture document and am instead just working on QA related things, so far Alex and I have been unable to organise a meeting for this week, so we’re going to need to spend more time this week on that. We had a checkup meeting within the week in which it was the UI review document and repository were mentioned, thus me and Alex need to ensure the repository is up to scratch. I’ve also spent some time trying to memorise parts of the SE.QA documents.[:]

[:en]Peter and Andreas joined the architecture team in order to speed things up, and Alex and I have our first meeting about QA work. Attended test specification review meetings.[:]

[:en]Rowan and I continued working on the architecture document, now with assistance from Peter and Andreas. Alex volunteered to be QA manager, and I was elected as deputy QA manager. Aaron and Peter are project leader and deputy project leader respectively.[:]

[:en]This week I did further research into timer libraries mainly noting down methods and what they achieve according to documentation. I found three libraries that seemed to offer reasonable solutions, being one that’s built into Java, one on GitHub from a user by the name ‘keshrath’, and another on GitHub from a user by the name ‘dhchoi’.[:]

[:en]I met with Rowan to discuss the architecture draft and look into what parts each of us should work on, discussing libraries for timers, libraries for storage and structure. We also arranged a meeting with UI and JavaFX teams so that we could all be on the same page.[:]

[:en]Had our first meeting as a group. Rowan and I were assigned to work on the architecture draft. Peter setup a Discord server for the group to organise communications. Whilst we were in a something of a follow up meeting we completed the GitLab practical as a group after the initial meeting, not without a few hiccups but we all got there.[:]
