Fun Things to Do in Aber

Aberystwyth is a small town University, meaning some of our potential students can think it has waaay less to offer than some of the big city names, like Manchester and London. However, there is still heaps to do in this seaside university, it’s just all closer and easier to get to than some of the other uni’s. Here are some of the great things to do around Aber:

  1. Silver Mountain experience

This great little place is filled with history, myth and legend and present you with these adventures through actor-led shows. Check out their website to check out what exciting events they have on around certain holidays to scream in delight! Student Price from £11.25.

  1. Borth/Ynys Las

Why not travel a bit further on the bus or train to Borth? There is the gorgeous sandy beach Ynys Las around the corner and a lovely cinema and restaurant too.

  1. Cinema

In Aber you have the choice of three cinemas! The Arts centre and Commodore cinema screen some of the latest hit movies, both are reasonably priced at even have 3D screenings. The National Library of Wales also do special screenings, including, black and white silent films accompanied by a talented pianist. Check out their website for more details.

4. Constitution Hill, Coastal Walk and Pen Dinas

Consti is only a short walk (or train ride) uphill to see a fantastic view of Aberystwyth and the Coast, or if you have more time on your hand you can venture further along the coastal path (I would advise with plenty of fluids and some nice treats) and see some great views of the sea and beaches around Aberystwyth. Alternatively, take a shorter walk and view the other side of Aberystwyth by going up Pen Dinas.

5. The Ceredigion Museum

The newly renovated Museum tell you loads about this little towns history through its diverse collection of items, which are dotted around the Museums main room, the Coliseum Theatre. Even better the Museum is free!

  1. Food

As well as all these great experiences, Aberystwyth also has a diverse range of scrumptious foods. From Mediterranean, to Italian, we have it all. Even better, we have a vast range of Cafés for you to choose from, so whenever you need that last minute stressful group project meeting (or coffee date), there’s plenty places to choose from. I’ve been here four years and I still haven’t been to every cafe!
