The Whiteboard is a space where you and your students can collaborate.<\/p>\n<p>The whiteboard can be used for:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Students sharing ideas or thoughts<\/li>\n<li>Talking your students through a complicated diagram<\/li>\n<li>Mind-mapping ideas or concepts<\/li>\n<li>Sharing or charting a complex process<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There\u2019s a great video on using the Whiteboard in Teams by The Virtual Training Team: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qDqtWRu0rTA\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qDqtWRu0rTA<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re in a meeting, you can share your Whiteboard:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the <strong>Share<\/strong> icon:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-954\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Screenshot-Whiteboard.png\" alt=\"Screen grab from Teams window showing the options available to you. Select <strong>Microsoft Whiteboard<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-955\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Microsoft-Whiteboard.png\" alt=\"Screen grab showing the Whiteboard app.\" width=\"101\" height=\"91\"><\/p>\n<p>3. Your whiteboard will then open and it will start presenting to your students. Your students are also able to contribute to the board:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-957\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Whiteboard-basic.png\" alt=\"General image of the whiteboard open in the Team app. Includes the free hand options down the right hand side of the screen. \" width=\"472\" height=\"269\"><\/p>\n<p>4. On the right hand side you\u2019ve got several pens available and an eraser. This is the basic functionality in the MS Teams whiteboard. Here you and your students can choose to draw using your trackpad.<\/p>\n<p>If you want additional functionality, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-gb\/p\/microsoft-whiteboard\/9mspc6mp8fm4?activetab=pivot:overviewtab\">download the app<\/a> and when presenting your Whiteboard, select <strong>Open in app<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-960\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Open-in-app-highlighted-1.png\" alt=\"Screen grab showing the Open in app option which appears in the top right hand corner of the screen. \" width=\"319\" height=\"245\"><\/p>\n<p>This will open Whiteboard in the app where you get much more functionality. There is an expanded menu item:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-961\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Full-menu.png\" alt=\"Menu item to edit the whiteboard that opens when you select to Open the whiteboard in the app. There's more functionality here, including: Freehand Text editor Sticky notes Photo Upload a file Undo Redo\" width=\"356\" height=\"81\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-962\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Pen-icon.png\" alt=\"Pen icon\" width=\"33\" height=\"30\">This is a free hand pen. If you click on this you can choose many different pens that are available to you. In addition to pens and pencils, you\u2019ve also got the functionality to add a ruler to your whiteboard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-963\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Text-editor.png\" alt=\"Text editor\" width=\"30\" height=\"38\">This is a text editor. If you click on this you can type text directly onto the whiteboard, without the need to draw freehand.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-964\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Sticky-notes.png\" alt=\"Sticky note icon\" width=\"42\" height=\"38\">This is a sticky note tool \u2013 you can ask your students to write their ideas on different sticky notes, or organise them into different thoughts.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-965\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Upload-photo.png\" alt=\"Upload photo\" width=\"32\" height=\"29\">This icon allows you to upload image files onto the whiteboard. You may wish to annotate these.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-966\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2020\/06\/Upload-file.png\" alt=\"Upload file\" width=\"34\" height=\"27\">Upload files into the whiteboard.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst these features are only available via the app, your students will still be able to see anything that you choose to present in the whiteboard.<\/p>\n<p>If you want your students to be able to also make use of the full whiteboard functionality, such as adding photos and using the sticky notes feature, they will have to install the app as well.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this blogpost we will be taking a look at one of the tools available to make your teaching in a Microsoft Teams session more interactive.
