Tests can be provided as a formative method of assessment, as a self-assessment method for students, or as a more formal means of assessing student performance.<\/p>\n<p>The Learning and Teaching Enhancement Unit have recently updated our Blackboard Tests guidance, to support staff in providing online assessment activities for students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Use Blackboard Tests in my module? <\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Benefits to Students<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reinforce learning<\/strong>. Research has shown that tests and quizzes are powerful tools to promote retrieval practice, aid revision and improve learning.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Valuable feedback<\/strong>. Blackboard Tests can provide varied, additional feedback opportunities for students.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Media rich experience<\/strong>. Videos, images and links to recordings and external resources can be provided within the questions and answers.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits to Staff:<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Measure student knowledge<\/strong>. Blackboard Tests are an effective way to gauge student comprehension and progress throughout the course, and to identify any knowledge gaps.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Instant marking<\/strong>. Most questions are instantly marked by Blackboard and automatically populate the Grade Centre.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Question pools for re-use<\/strong>. Banks of questions can be built up, from which you can draw questions for multiple tests. Questions and tests can also be exported for use in other modules.<br \/>\n<!--more-->&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I create a Test in Blackboard? <\/strong><br \/>\nFollow our guidance on <a href=\"https:\/\/faqs.aber.ac.uk\/index.php?id=650\">creating a Test<\/a>, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/faqs.aber.ac.uk\/index.php?id=180\">deploying a Test<\/a> in Blackboard.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackboard Tests for Students<\/strong><br \/>\nOnce you have created and deployed your Test, we recommend that you provide our <a href=\"https:\/\/faqs.aber.ac.uk\/index.php?id=1662\">Blackboard Test taking guidelines<\/a> to your students.<\/p>\n<p>If a student experiences any problems when taking the Test, you may need to <a href=\"https:\/\/faqs.aber.ac.uk\/index.php?id=240\">clear the student\u2019s attempt<\/a> to enable them to re-take the test.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If you\u2019d like any further information on this process or have specific questions, then please contact us (<a href=\"mailto:elearning@aber.ac.uk\">elearning@aber.ac.uk<\/a>).
