The Gradebook is the new name for Grade Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is used to hold all student marks on a Blackboard Course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gradebook is located on every course from the top menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"516\" height=\"117\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-17.png\" alt=\"Ultra Course with Gradebook highlighted\" class=\"wp-image-6718\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-17.png 516w, https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-17-300x68.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 516px) 100vw, 516px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Students enrolled on the module automatically appear in the Gradebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you get into the gradebook, you can toggle your view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Default is a list of markable items on one tab and students on another:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"285\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-18.png\" alt=\"List view of the Gradebook\" class=\"wp-image-6719\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-18.png 624w, https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-18-300x137.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can toggle your view so that you can see the markable items and the students in one view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"497\" height=\"297\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-19.png\" alt=\"Grid view of Gradebook]\" class=\"wp-image-6720\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-19.png 497w, https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-19-300x179.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Automatically created columns<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>As with Blackboard Original, some columns are automatically created in the Gradebook:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Turnitin Assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blackboard Assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Blackboard Tests<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graded Discussions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Graded Journals<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t need to do anything with these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For outstanding items that have been submitted and are waiting to be marked, you can view the Marking Status:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-20.png\" alt=\"Marking Status highlighted in Gradebook\" class=\"wp-image-6721\" width=\"624\" height=\"142\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-20.png 624w, https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-20-300x68.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 624px) 100vw, 624px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Total column and Overall Mark<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike Blackboard Original, a Total Column is not created by default in Blackboard Learn Ultra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can, however, set up an overall mark if you wish but this is done manually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall mark is a calculated item displaying as a running tally across all the graded items on a course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The overall mark, if set up, is visible to students to track their progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To set up an overall mark, select the settings cog in the Gradebook:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"224\" height=\"181\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-21.png\" alt=\"Gradebook with Settings Cog highlighted\" class=\"wp-image-6722\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Select Set up Overall Mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use Points, created a Weighted column, or use an Advanced formula to create a bespoke calculation for the overall mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Manually created columns<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>As before, you still have the ability to create columns manually. These columns can be used to record marks and feedback for assignments not submitted electronically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These might be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Panopto video submissions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seminar contribution<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Art works<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performances<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To create a column, go to the Gradebook and the location that you want the column added to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"198\" height=\"234\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-22.png\" alt=\"Purple plus to add Gradebook column highlighted\" class=\"wp-image-6723\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Select <strong>Add item<\/strong> and give your column a name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can choose whether it\u2019s available to your students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Calculated columns<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Calculated columns can still be used in the Gradebook. Follow the steps above for Creating a Column and instead of selecting add item, select Add Calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you can create calculated columns based on totals, averages, minimums, maximums, and variables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Calculated columns<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Calculated columns can still be used in the Gradebook. Follow the steps above for Creating a Column and instead of selecting add item, select Add Calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here you can create calculated columns based on totals, averages, minimums, maximums, and variables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Posting Grades<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultra gives you the flexibility to release marks to students when you are ready for students to see them. This is called Post Grades and is available for Blackboard Assignments and tests. Marks release from Turnitin is controlled by \u2018Post Date\u2019 option in the Turnitin settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to think about when you want grades to be posted when you set up your assignment or test. Posting grades is controlled by Post assessment marks automatically option in the Assignment or test settings screen. Click in the cell for the mark you wish to post and click on the Post button<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"186\" height=\"106\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-27.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of the post option\" class=\"wp-image-6728\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>3. This will make the mark available, and you\u2019ll see Posted appear in green under the mark<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"135\" height=\"77\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2023\/09\/image-28.png\" alt=\"Screenshot of posted mark]\" class=\"wp-image-6732\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiding and Showing columns<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can hide columns from students if required. These instructions work for any column apart from the overall mark<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\">\n<li>Make sure you are in <strong>Grid View<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the name of the column and choose <strong>Edit<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>Visible to Students<\/strong> dropdown in the top right-hand of the screen to control whether students can see marks.
