{"id":10161,"date":"2026-03-17T13:15:28","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T13:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/?p=10161"},"modified":"2026-03-17T13:15:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T13:15:29","slug":"exemplary-course-award-winners-2025-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/2026\/03\/17\/exemplary-course-award-winners-2025-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Exemplary Course Award Winners 2025-26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1925\" height=\"496\" src=\"http:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/e-learning\/files\/2025\/06\/Innovation-Banner.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9439\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We are delighted to announce the winner of this year\u2019s annual Exemplary Course Award.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Congratulations to our joint winners:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dr Christopher Phillips from International Politis for the award-winning course: IP25320: <em>Warfare after Waterloo: Military History 1815-1918<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr Catrin Wyn-Edwards from International Politics for the award-winning course: IPM3120: <em>Race, (Im)mobility, and Incarceration.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The panel noted exemplary practices in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Community ethos and student co-creation activities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seminar packs with clear guidance and additional materials to expand on the main topic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethos of the module as part of the welcome and orientation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Clear and accessible module structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Variety of source types<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A range of assessment and feedback opportunities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optional exercises for developing essay writing and critical thinking skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reading list organised into different sections&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Embedding learning outcomes throughout the course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many congratulations to our highly commended and commended recipients:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Department of Geography and Earth Sciences\u2019 Dr Tristram Irvine-Fynn and Dr Hywel Griffiths for the course <em>GS25520: Glacial and Fluvial Processes<\/em> and Theatre Film and Television Studies\u2019 Dr Lara Kipp for the course <em>FM22120: Production Design Skills<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These 2 courses demonstrated some excellent practices, including innovative virtual field trip activities, anonymous student feedback mechanisms, authentic assessment design, and clarity on generative AI usage.
