She spent ten years in the Deep South where she did an MA in Afro-Caribbean literature. She teaches creative writing at Cardiff University and won the John Tripp Award for Spoken Poetry. \u00a0Her work as been published in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planetmagazine.org.uk\/\"><em>Planet<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"www.newwelshreview.com \"><em>New Welsh Review<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.walesartsreview.org\/wales-arts-review-3-20\/\"><em>Wales Arts Review<\/em><\/a>, <a href=\"www.mslexia.co.uk\/\"><em>Mslexia<\/em><\/a>, <em>Cahoots Magazine<\/em>, <em>Cambrensis<\/em>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ltsg.edu\/SRP\/Seminary-Ridge-Review\"><em>The Seminary Ridge Review Journal<\/em><\/a> and various anthologies. Her first poetry collection is <em>spilling histories<\/em><i>. <\/i>Last year, she received a bursary from <a href=\"www.literaturewales.org\/\">Literature Wales<\/a> and has written a subsequent collection, <em>A Certain Darkness<\/em><i>. <\/i>\u00a0She has written for the <a href=\"www.wno.org.uk\">Welsh National Opera<\/a> in community theatre and singing projects, and has received various commissions to write poetry in collaboration with artists: a poem for the new Keir Hardie Health Park, and street poetry in the pavements of Pontypridd, for example. She has read at the Hay Festival and at the Smithsonian Folk-Life Festival.
