{"id":11,"date":"2021-05-13T09:51:06","date_gmt":"2021-05-13T08:51:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/abc27\/?p=11"},"modified":"2021-06-17T11:07:49","modified_gmt":"2021-06-17T10:07:49","slug":"meet-your-academic-services-librarians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.aber.ac.uk\/abc27\/2021\/05\/13\/meet-your-academic-services-librarians\/","title":{"rendered":"Meet your Academic Services Librarians"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lloyd Roderick<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-bcm58MuhW7s\/Ve1zdDwZKWI\/AAAAAAAAAXg\/PglaP-y_JlM\/s1600\/20150803_172843.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-bcm58MuhW7s\/Ve1zdDwZKWI\/AAAAAAAAAXg\/PglaP-y_JlM\/s320\/20150803_172843.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m Lloyd and I am the new Subject Librarian for the School of Art; Welsh &amp; Celtic Studies; History &amp; Welsh History and Law &amp; Criminology.&nbsp;&nbsp;I joined Information Services after finishing a PhD in Digital Library Collections\/Art History with the School of Art and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.llgc.org.uk\/en\/collections\/activities\/research\/\">Research Department of the National Library of Wales<\/a>.&nbsp;&nbsp;My first degree was in Art History at Nottingham University, and later on I got an MSc in Information and Library Management from the University of the West of England.&nbsp;&nbsp;In between, I\u2019ve worked in a number of different types of libraries, including the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/ials.sas.ac.uk\/\">Institute of Advanced Legal Studies Library<\/a>, University of London; the National Library of Wales; the library of the Courtauld Institute of Art; and public library branches in Newport.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The impulse to impose order on chaos may have come from an unwieldy and unnecessarily big record collection.&nbsp;&nbsp;This collection was initiated by my grandmother giving me a 7\u201dof Public Enemy\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Don't_Believe_the_Hype\"><em>Don\u2019t Believe the Hype<\/em><\/a>&nbsp;when I was about 12.&nbsp;&nbsp;While I like to think my Nana is a big fan politically engaged east-coast rap, it was actually just unsold stock from her music shop, the mighty Falcon Music in Llanelli.
